Many attempts to convince the different departments at [[http://www.ucdavis.edu|UC Davis]] as well as the Chancellor have not helped to bring a Vietnamese language program. One cited reason is budget cuts. Here are some strategies and arguments to promote the language program:

  * Encourage international relations with Vietnam
    * UC Davis is near the State Capitol.
    * To help define [[Educational Policy for Vietnam]].
      * [[http://www.dateline.ucdavis.edu/dl_detail.lasso?id=9341 | Another door opens to Vietnam]]. March 7, 2007. UC Davis has recently established a partnership with the [[http://www.vef.gov|Vietnam Education Foundation]], a federal agency created by Congress with the mission of increasing student exchange in the science and technology fields.
    * To help define [[Health Policy for Vietnam]].
  * Develop a strong economic incentive argument for investing into the language program.
    * Amount of trade between US and Vietnam, past and projection.
      * Amount of trade between California and Vietnam, past and projection.
  * Look for resources to help make the program happen.
    * Financial resources.
    * Faculty who can teach.
    * Students interested in taking the courses.
    * Political capital from government officials.
