• Organizing a Vietnamese Language Program (uNAVSA)

Many attempts to convince the different departments at UC Davis as well as the Chancellor have not helped to bring a Vietnamese language program. One cited reason is budget cuts. Here are some strategies and arguments to promote the language program:

• Encourage international relations with Vietnam
  • UC Davis is near the State Capitol.
  • To help define Educational Policy for Vietnam.
    • Another door opens to Vietnam. March 7, 2007. UC Davis has recently established a partnership with the Vietnam Education Foundation, a federal agency created by Congress with the mission of increasing student exchange in the science and technology fields.
  • To help define Health Policy for Vietnam.
• Develop a strong economic incentive argument for investing into the language program.
  • Amount of trade between US and Vietnam, past and projection.
    • Amount of trade between California and Vietnam, past and projection.
• Look for resources to help make the program happen.
  • Financial resources.
  • Faculty who can teach.
  • Students interested in taking the courses.
  • Political capital from government officials.
